Make Up

Her beauty and style was always a major attraction and as a lover of cosmetics she knew how to create a make-up look that both corrected and flattered her features. Sophia has beautiful round eyes but to make them look more feline and almond shaped she would drag out the liner from under the eye meet it up with the top liner but leave a large triangular gap in the corner. This would make the eye appear longer and more narrow.  Her look is all about the eyes and there is only be subtle colour on the skin and lips.

Todays Hair Icon - Marilyn Monroe

Todays Hair Icon

Marilyn Monroe

She's the ultimate Hollywood movie star, a style icon and still the number one blonde bombshell.

In the history of hair color there is no blonde more
 famous than Marilyn Monroe.

Marilyn Monroe was in Films such as Gentleman Prefer Blondes, The Seven Year Itch, and How to Marry a Millionaire. They were among her most mainstream film roles, and they were also her most famous.

Following a Trend

Madonna, Christina Aguilera and Paris Hilton are only a few of the many modern celebrities who were inspired by her platinum blonde locks and red locks.

Paired with her blonde curls, bright red lipstick, dramatic eyelashes, and high-arched brows, Marilyn created a signature look all on her own, which she is still recognized for today. It is both classic and unique, and will forever be identified as “the” Monroe style.

These two photos was taken at Mariln monroe's last Vogue photo shoot in September 1962.

70s Fashion Trends

70's Fashion Trends

1970s remain a fashion favourite for most people.

Singers and musicians wore outrageous clothes, make up and hairstyles.

Seventies was a diverse decade for hairstyles.

'GLAM ROCK'

Glam rock (also known as glitter rock) is a style of rock and pop music that developed in the 1970s.

Glam rock is a rock style/genre that came after the hippy movement. The glam rock performers tended to wear very colourful, outrageous clothing and often make up as well.

Glam rock fashion includes platform shoes, lots of glittery make-up for both men and women, face painting, coloured and spiked hair.

Glam rock visuals peaked during the mid-1970s with artists including
- T-Rex
- Sweet
- Roxy Music
- Gary Glitter

David Bowie was considered the king of the glam rock music as he represented art/fashion and style all rolled into one.

Women wore high-waisted, flared satin trousers or denims, the latter usually decorated with rhinestones, tight lurex halter tops, metallic-coloured lamé and antique velvet dresses, satin hot pants, sequined bra tops, and occasionally they wore ostrich- feather boas draped over their shoulders or turbans on their heads.

Make-up was garish and glittery, with eyebrows thinly plucked. Bianca Jagger was an icon in the 1970s.

I think it goes without saying that Saturday Night Fever is one of the most iconic films to come out of the 1970s.

You can’t talk about disco without talking about the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. When it comes to 1970s fashion, the first thing many people think of is the image of John Travolta in that white suit.

Some major hallmarks of the 70’s fashion:

M
ini, midi and maxi skirts

Hipster jeans and bell bottoms

    Flared trousers

Platform Shoes

    The disco-only clothing:

1. Spandex tops with hot pants were the staple disco wear for the girls.
2. Vividly colored shiny disco pants in Lycra with equally dazzling neck tops were also quite popular.
3. Shiny cat suits that shone in the ultraviolet lighting were also a regular
feature on dance floors.

1970s HAIR

Throughout much of the decade, women and teenage girls wore their hair long, with a centre or side parting, which was a style carried over from the late 1960s. Other hairstyles of the early to mid-1970s included the wavy "gypsy" cut, the layered shag, and the "flicked" style, popularly referred to as "wings", in which the hair was flicked into resembling small wings at the temples.

In the 1970s, making one of the popular hairstyles for a woman didn't take a lot of time. These hairstyles, including Afro hairstyle, Shaggy Hairdo and Feathered hair (then known as "Farrah Fawcett hairstyle were said to be perfect when you're on-the-go and would still keep your expressive style in-check. The perm was also invented.

The truth about Split ends...

FACT: It is impossible to heal a split end.

Cure? Cut them off!

Hoolovoo's ID Artist Emma Knecht says 'Longer hair is more prone to splitting because of the 'weathering effect on hair that has been their for longer."
I recommend having a trim every 6/8 weeks."
